September 13, 2020 - Pottstown Heritage Pancake Breakfast Fly-In

The Hangar Row A Flyers were off to Pottstown Heritage Airport on this beautiful Sunday morning for their annual pancake breakfast fly-in.  Today we had Tom K. with friend Tim in the Maule, Chuck and Mark B. in Chuck's 172, Rich and Nhu-An in their 172, and myself of course in the RV-7.  JJ from Easton and Richard R. from Clearview joined us.

Incredibly, this would be my first Fly-In of the year!  All fly-ins and airport events until now have been cancelled.  2020 should go down in history as the "Lost Year".

You know you are getting close to Pottstown when you see the two big nuclear power plant cooling towers.

Overhead Pottstown Heritage Airport (KPTW).  The fly-in area is on the left side of the field.  We arrived fairly late which may explain the small number of planes attending.  Or not.

Parked on the grass at Pottstown Heritage.  Right away, a family was all over my plane as you can see.

An excellent breakfast was to be had in that covered area at center:  pancakes, scrambled eggs, ham and potatoes, orange juice, coffee, a veritable feast!

Group shot!  Left to right:  JJ, friend of Tom K. Tim,  Mark B. Chuck, Nhu-An, Richard, Rich, myself.  (And Tom B. at far right).  Not pictured:  Tom K.

My friend Bob G. in his AirVenture award-winning RV-7 was on hand.  Also Tom B. who I go way back from the Trunkmonkey Citabria days.

Flying home.

I checked out an interesting broken layer between 2,000 and 4,000 feet or so on the way home.

Crossing the mighty Susquehanna River.
